Many people living in the Centerville-Washington Township community may not be aware of the interesting and rich history of our active community. Thankfully we have a wonderful Historical Society with the mission to “connect the community to its heritage by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history of our local area.” This year’s Hometown Holiday Walk in the Heart of Centerville honors the Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society by recognizing the role they play in keeping history alive and available to us all. Visitors to the Holiday Walk on Sunday, November 18 from 1 until 5 pm, will have the opportunity to learn more about our history by participating in a historical scavenger hunt. The Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society has been very active in the Hometown Holiday Walk for many years, and has sponsored a number of the family and children’s activities which visitors have come to expect including visits with Santa, the horse and carriage rides, children’s holiday crafts of long ago, and tours of the Walton House and Asahel Wright House. By focusing on the important role they play in our community, the Heart of Centerville business alliance will be raising awareness of this resource at the 2012 Hometown Holiday Walk. Visitors will have the opportunity to get a reusable Heart of Centerville tote bag when they make a donation of $5 dollars or more. All proceeds go to the Historical Society. Learn more about our community’s history, visit Santa, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, visit a live nativity shop, eat, listen to the Mistletoe Quartet, have lots of fun... and support the Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society!
