WhenThe Mall at Bay Plaza opens in August 2014, it will be the first enclosed fashion mall in the New York City area in almost 40 years. With it comes the first new Macy’s department store in the city in more than 15 years. The new mall will sit at the crossroads of I-95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway, making it an ideal destination for consumers from all over New York City, including the Bronx and Manhattan as well as Westchester. Upon completion, The Mall at Bay Plaza promises a first-class, suburban-style shopping experience.This state-of-the-art fashion mall will join the iconic landmarks like the Bronx Zoo, Yankees Stadium, and The Botanical Gardens at the junction of the Bronx and Westchester. Prestige Properties is making an economic and architectural contribution to the community by creating an enclosed fashion mall (including a 1,800-car parking garage) worthy of the 780,000 square foot project. The existing shopping center, which includes a 150,000 square foot JCPenney and encompasses 1.3 million square feet, is already the largest mall in New York City. In total, the new mall and the open air center will cover an excess of two million square feet.
